Last year, one of most popular posts explained how we are now living in the age of the empowered consumer, and the evidence keeps mounting. This afternoon, I was reading the Wall Street Journal's online edition and came across an interesting video featuring Megan Wade, a twenty-something resident of San Francisco, who has written more than 900 restaurant and store reviews on Yelp, one of the most popular customer review websites in the San Francisco Bay Area.
It's fascinating to hear Megan's reasons for writing online reviews. And, an interview with one restaurant owner in the video clearly indicates that people in kitchens across American now realize that reviewers are now coming into their doors every night. And, the sum total of their opinions can make or break a restaurant. As someone who loves to eat out, I'm excited that restaurants will always have to be on their toes because they never know when the next Megan Wade will review them.
